Rejuvenate your Community by Selling Reusable Goods

image003Here is an amazing way to get your community involved in reusing unwanted building supplies and good, while also support local families.

Shop Demo Depot is based in Mt. Pleasant, PA and was created as a social enterprise through the non-profit Westmoreland Community Action.  SDD began in 2010 by reclaiming and salvaging building materials, but officially opened its door on August 27, 2012.  The mission of SDD is “To reduce landfill waste and promote the resale and reuse of goods, while financially supporting Community Action initiatives that help those in need.”

Shop Demo Depot accepts tax-deductible donations of surplus and reusable building supplies from businesses, manufacturers, and the general public. We inspect all materials and will decline unsatisfactory, broken, or items with missing parts. Since our mission is to reuse these materials, they must be in sale-able condition.

Amanda Maksin is the Marketing & PR Specialist for Shop Demo Depot.  She earned her bachelor’s degree from Penn State (Greater Allegheny campus) in Communications and her Master’s degree from Point Park University in Public Relations.

After graduation, Amanda held a number of jobs at Penn State Greater Allegheny including, Adjunct Professor, Head Softball Coach, and Admissions Counselor, before moving on to Shop Demo Depot.
